Gen 3:23
Therefore
the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from
whence he was taken.
The Lord
sent Adam from the garden He had created for him to a different land where he
was going to establish a new garden.
Although Adam lost out on a garden already prepared by the Lord for him,
the Lord was giving Adam an opportunity to start over. Our God is a God who disciplines us because
He is a great father. Although He deals
with us, He deals with us with mercy. He
gives us the resources and opportunities to do things right. Adam could have focused on the banishment and
not set out to start over but the Lord wasn’t through with Adam yet. When the Lord deals with us we must remember
that the consequences we face are always accompanied with mercies and new
beginnings. Our God loves to show
Himself as a God who, not only deals with our sin by inevitable consequences
but will be with us as we start over even if takes more work than it could
have. Our God doesn’t just send us away
from certain blessings we might have remained in had we not sinned, but to a
new place where we can still enjoy His fellowship and presence regardless of
where we end up.
