Matt 7:21
Not every one that saith unto me,
Lord, Lord,
shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven.
The Lord is revealing His place as
judge here. He is establishing that our
words do not define who we are but our actions.
Our God is the One who decides who enters the kingdom of heaven. There is much ‘preaching’ these days about
words – positive words, faith-filled words and words of life. It seems like the message people are getting
today is aimed at rewriting a script we are all supposed to memorize and
say. The Lord is dealing with choices in
this verse. Our God is looking at what
we actually do or don’t do. Our God is
seeking if we are seeking to do what He wants us to do or what we want to
do. It is not just calling Him our
Father that establishes a father/child relationship, but it is in submission to
Him that manifests our true colors as children of God.
