And he shall redeem Israel from
all his iniquities.
He Redeems
The
Lord forgives us of all our iniquities (Psalm 103:3) but here we learn of His
ability and will to redeem His people from all their iniquities. Redemption is the ability to take something
that is either worthless or actually destructive and turn it into something
useful and/or profitable. It is buying
back something from something else and giving it the freedom to become all it
can be. When we sin, there are
consequences. By the sacrifice of Jesus,
we are freed from the eternal responsibility of paying for our sins but the
temporal effects of sin remain. The
Lord can take those effects and redeem them, using them for His glory and our
good. Truly He works all things together
for good to them who are the called according to His purposes. We need not grow unnecessarily weary when
reaping from our sin. We need to look to
our God who can redeem us from our sins.
He is able to take those things that were meant for evil and turn them
around for our good. He is mighty,
powerful and redemptive.
