Isa
24:2-3
And it
shall be, as with the people, so with the priest; as with the servant, so with
his master; as with the maid, so with her mistress; as with the buyer, so with
the seller; as with the lender, so with the borrower; as with the taker of
usury, so with the giver of usury to him.
The land shall be utterly emptied,
and utterly spoiled: for the Lord hath spoken this word.
When
the Lord speaks His word, it applies to everyone. There are no exceptions. If you are a pastor or church member, manager
or laborer, homeowner or renter, business owner or welfare recipient, bank
president or janitor, president or beggar, the Lord’s word applies to all. The Lord is not impressed with the status
others are impressed with. The Lord does
not neglect those whom society often overlooks.
ALL have sinned. ALL have fallen
short of the glory of God and ALL are under His scrutiny and command. When judgment is given in a land or at the
end, every person will be held to that judgment. God is not a respecter of persons. He is gracious to all and He commands
all. We ought not to put such weight on
position or prestige. We ought not to
weigh a man’s value by his earnings or possessions. We, like the Lord, need to be in a place
where the word of God determines true righteousness and respect.
