Proverbs 16:26
He
that laboureth laboureth for himself; for his mouth craveth it of him.
When
someone is hungry for something, they are motivated to do what it takes to fill
that hunger. If someone knows they need
to make money to buy food for themselves, they can make it through their tasks
diligently and with a sense of ownership.
They want to keep their job because they know that their daily bread is
coming from that source. We must hunger
for more of the Lord so that those same disciplines a laborer has will be in
our lives in our pursuit of the things of God.
If we don’t hunger for righteousness we might not labor in a disciplined
way. This hunger comes from asking the
Lord for the hunger and from walking in works He has called us to where we need
an intake in order to keep giving. If
you have not been hungering for God, stop and ask Him for this hunger. Examine your day and see if His kingdom is in
the list of things to do and then seek Him for opportunities to pour your life
into others for His sake.
