Proverbs
12:16-17
A fool's wrath is presently known:
but
a prudent man covereth shame.
He that speaketh truth sheweth forth
righteousness:
but
a false witness deceit.
Prudence
is an old-fashioned word. We rarely use
it these days but it is an attribute, we as women, should desire to have in our
lives. It is: being able to decide on the
right thing to do at any given moment regardless of how we feel, or natural
bents or even the influences and pressures of people or culture.
A
prudent woman is a woman that people can’t predict what they will do just by
knowing their personality. A prudent
woman hears the leading of the Holy Spirit and responds in a way that He
directs and people realize she is a wise woman that seems to know what to do in
most situations. Here, in verse 16, we
see that a prudent woman covers shame.
She doesn’t talk about the failings and mistakes of others in a way to
make her look good or to prove herself right.
She looks out to present people in the best light according to
truth. She purposes to believe all
things and hope all things. She walks in
love.
