Proverbs 22:3
A
prudent man foreseeth the evil, and hideth himself: but the simple pass on, and
are
punished.
In
the book of Proverbs, the Lord tells us that a prudent wife is from the
Lord. Here we are instructed what a
prudent wife would do. We should
anticipate evil and hide ourselves. This
is not a doomsday mentality but a good planner’s understanding of evil that
could occur. This means that we could
see that getting ourselves into a financial commitment that could create undue
pressure on our family is something we should hide ourselves from. We mustn’t take that path. If we see that we are tired and easily
provoked, we should hide ourselves. We
should be cautious with our mouths and commitments. If we see that a friendship might lure us
towards evil, we should remove ourselves from that relationship. If we are simple women we go on with life as
if there are no consequences or spiritual opposition in our lives. We must walk soberly and when we are shown
potential for evil, make those choices that would protect us and help us avoid
this evil. We pray ‘deliver us from
evil’ and ‘lead us not into temptation’.
This means that when the Lord reveals evil in the future based on choices,
we must choose the path that hides us from it.
Let us not needlessly experience the evil He forewarns us about. Choose this day steps away from any obvious
evil and avoid unnecessary consequences.
Hide yourself in Him and in the direction He shows you to go.
