Proverbs 26:17
He that
passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that
taketh a dog by the ears.
We can find
ourselves passing by a conversation and notice that there is some sort of
misunderstanding or conflict. Sometimes
there is a temptation to get involved and put our two cents in. The Lord is warning us that if we do this we
might very well be bitten by it. Strife
that does not belong to us is not to be brought into our lives. If we are an overseer and there is strife, it
belongs to us and we must be peace keepers.
If we sense the Holy Spirit leading us to come and mediate, we must
obey. But if we just feel pulled into
something because of a subject or relationship, we would be best to pull back
and not take the dog by the ears. It
would be better to pray on our own that the Lord will intervene and avoid
unnecessary dog bites.
