Proverbs 24:11-12
If thou
forbear to deliver them that are drawn unto death, and those that are ready to
be slain; If thou sayest, Behold, we knew it not; doth not he that pondereth
the heart consider it? and he that keepeth thy soul, doth not he know it? and
shall not he render to every man according to his works?
God ponders
our responses to information that comes to us.
If we know that innocent babies are being slaughtered or certain people
groups are being killed in the name of ethnic cleansing, what are we doing
about it? If we say, we didn’t know
about it, is this true? Should we keep
our ears open to world news and local injustice? Will He not render to every man according to
his works? The Lord is pondering the
heart. He is seeing if we are tender-hear-ted to the affliction of the innocent.
He wants our hearts to ache for injustice and any sort of disregard for
the value of human life. We should
remain open and willing to know our part in these great tragedies. What could you do? What does He want you to do? Pause now and ask Him for what work He has
for you to do in order to deliver then that are drawn unto death.
