Jer 1:10
….to root out, and to pull down, and to destroy,
and to throw down, to build, and to plant.
This is what
the Lord wanted Jeremiah to do in the position He set him in. Most people think of the Lord building and
planting but might have a bit of a harder time being convinced that the Lord
wants things rooted out, pulled down, destroyed and thrown down. The stark truth is – He does. How do we know that? Because He has revealed in His Word that this
is to be done. One time King Josiah
started building and repairing the altars and temple of the Lord. As he began to do so, the book of the Law
was found and Josiah realized that there were false images in the temple and
altars to idols throughout the kingdom.
He had to stop building and repairing and get to tearing down and
destroying. Our God knows that major
restoration in our lives requires some demolition and uprooting. If you see this happening in your life, don’t
think it is the enemy. Embrace the
Lord’s reconstruction tactics and believe that after all the pulling down there
will come a time of building and planting.
