Proverbs
7:13-21
So she caught him, and kissed him,
and
with an impudent face said unto him,
I
have peace offerings with me; this day have I payed my vows.
Therefore came I forth to meet thee,
diligently
to seek thy face, and I have found thee.
I have decked my bed with coverings of
tapestry,
with carved
works, with fine linen of Egypt.
I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and
cinnamon.
Come,
let us take our fill of love until the morning:
let
us solace ourselves with loves.
For the goodman is not at home, he is gone a
long journey:
He hath taken a bag of money with him,
and will come home at the day appointed.
With her much fair speech she caused him to
yield,
with the
flattering of her lips she forced him.
This
woman is the initiator and with her bait catches the man. The woman of God is not so. She waits upon the Lord and surrenders her
desires to her God and looks to Him for her steps to be ordered.
We
see that this woman lies to the man and says she diligently sought him. We know from the context that she was just in
the street and that this fellow happened by.
Our speech needs to be seasoned with grace and always in truth. If we gain attention through flattery or
deceit we have partnered with the father of lies and aided him in destroying
our lives. We, as women, have tremendous
influence with our speech. May our lips speak
wisdom and give encouragement to others.
May our lips never cause people to yield to sin or compromise.
