Proverbs - Adultery

Proverbs 6:32-35

But whoso committeth adultery with a woman lacketh understanding:
he that doeth it destroyeth his own soul.
A wound and dishonour shall he get; and his reproach shall not be wiped away.
For jealousy is the rage of a man:
therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance.
He will not regard any ransom; neither will he rest content,
though thou givest many gifts.

Committing adultery cannot be corrected by buying the hurt one a nicer car, perfume or new home.  One’s soul is destroyed.  One’s personality and character are wounded and reproach follows their name.  Oh, for a fleeting moment of passion a lifetime is dishonored.

Here we are also warned that the jealousy of the other one will not be appeased.  We must remember that when a marriage is made, the two become one.  If we ever entertain the thought of an adulterous relationship we must remember that we are going to get a relationship with their wife as well. Not only do you enter into a relationship with your ‘lover’ but you now have a relationship with his mate - a relationship of rage, vengeance and conflict.

Flee youthful lusts and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace with those who call upon the Lord out of a pure heart.  Find faithful friends with whom you will seek the kingdom of God rather than your own fairytale fantasy which ends with the dragon’s fiery breath destroying your family, reputation and soul.
