Jer
2:9
Wherefore I
will yet plead with you, saith the Lord, and with your children's children will
I plead.
Here the Lord
is speaking through the prophet Jeremiah to His people. They were no longer having the Lord as the
first love of their lives. The Lord says
here that He is pleading with them. This
word ‘plead’ means ‘to wrangle’ ‘legally confront with a controversy’. The Lord was taking the time to explain their
backslidings and even let them know that their backslidings were going to be
used by Him to correct them. ”… thy backslidings shall reprove thee:..”(Jer
2:19) The Lord was pleading with them
and promised in this verse to plead with their children and their
grandchildren. How wonderful our God
is. He will plead with every generation
to return to Him when they wander away.
Dear mother, are you yearning for your child to return to the Lord? Dear grandmother, are you praying for those
grandchildren to know the love and peace you enjoy in Christ? Be comforted to know that your God is
pleading with them with the same fervor that He pleaded with you.
