Proverbs 10:15-16
The rich
man's wealth is his strong city: the destruction
of the poor is their poverty.
The labour
of the righteous tendeth to life: the fruit of the wicked to sin.
Here I believe
that the Lord is speaking about wealth and earnings gained by hard work and
prudent spending and saving. We see in
the second verse that the labor of the righteous tends to life. If we work hard we will be satisfied no
matter how much we make or don’t make.
Our strength will be in the fact that we know we worked unto the Lord
and He will take care of us and our needs.
If we find ourselves lacking due to laziness, credit abuse, lack of
employment from poor job performance, living beyond our means etc., we will be
destroying our lives. Let us ask the
Lord to search us out and show us how to be faithful, generous and
diligent. May He cleanse us of the
pursuit of ease and ignite within us a love to labor unto Him.
