Ps 57:1
“… yea, in the shadow of thy wings will I make my refuge, until these calamities be overpast.”
The Lord reveals Himself in the picture of a mother hen here. He connects to His servant as one who wants to identify Himself as a place to hide in until calamities have passed over. When my husband was in the Philippines one time a heavy, tropical downpour hit the house where he was staying. On the grounds were baby chicks and their mama. He saw the mama hen go around with her wings open scooping and covering her little chicks into a safe, warm, down-filled area close to her heart and away from the torrential waters. Our God knows that calamities come and oftentimes they must. He wants us to make Him our refuge during the times of calamity and downpours. He isn’t just a mighty fortress from deadly arrows, but a tender God who wants us to feel safe, loved and dry. Draw near and sense His heart for you.
