Proverbs 17:25
A foolish
son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bare him.
When our
children choose to do things that are foolish, parents’ hearts are greatly
affected. We can try to deny these
feelings but bitterness and grief hit the hearts of mom and dad. This is why our ministry as moms must never
be trivialized or pushed to the backburner.
We are responsible to model and instruct our children in wisdom. Wisdom begins with the fear of the Lord. Do your children see you making foolish and
impulsive choices or do they see you waiting on the Lord and testing things
against His Word? Do they see you and
your husband praying together over decisions deciding to honor the Lord or do
they see you both making decisions with your own understanding or reason? Ladies, the grief and bitterness that we
experience when and if our children choose to live foolishly, should never be rooted
in the example that we set before them.
