Proverbs 14:30
A sound heart is the life of the flesh:
but envy the rottenness of the bones.
A heart that is resting in God’s
goodness produces life and contentment that gives the quality of life the Lord
gives. A heart that is sound is thinking
on God and thanking Him for all He is and does.
When we are stirred up to look at another’s lot in life with envy, our
frame begins to suffer structural damage.
If our bone structure was weakened through some sort of disease, we
would be susceptible to fractures and not be able to take the natural bumps and
bruises of day to day life. When we become envious, little offenses can come in
break us down to where we will not function well and end up with broken
relationships and an inability to walk uprightly. When envy comes in, all of our relationships
suffer. We just can’t seem to enjoy anything. But a heart that is sound will
help us function in a healthy way. Let
us pursue soundness by considering all He has given us and watch our life
suddenly become rich and full.
