Proverbs 14:32
The wicked is driven away in his wickedness:
but the righteous hath hope in his
death.
Death is one of those things that, if
you are reading this right now, you have not experienced. We aren’t all looking forward to it and we do
what we can to postpone our appointment with death as long as can. We do need to be reassured, that if we have
received Christ, we are no longer in bondage to the fear of death. We have been declared righteous because His
righteousness is now our clothing. He
who knew no sin became sin for us that we might become the righteousness of God
in Him. We don’t have to look at death
as the end or a hopeless experience.
Death has now been chosen as an usher to take us to be with Him forever. We don’t have to like the usher or the door
through which we travel, but we can have hope that we will be with Him
forever. The Lord tells us in First
Corinthians chapter 15 verses 54-55 that:
Death is
swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy
victory?
We don’t need to look hopelessly to this
future appointment. We can look at death
square in its eyes, clothed in the righteousness of Christ and have hope even
until the end.
