Proverbs14:28
In the multitude of people is the king's
honour:
but in the want of people is the
destruction of the prince.
When someone is given a leadership position God intends them to lead others. There are certain characteristics in leadership that attracts followers and keeps them following. The Lord Jesus instructed His followers in leadership as follows:
Mark
10:42-45 But Jesus called them to him, and saith unto them, Ye know that they
which are accounted to rule over the Gentiles exercise lordship over them; and
their great ones exercise authority upon them. But so shall it not be among
you: but whosoever will be great among you, shall be your minister: And
whosoever of you will be the chiefest, shall be servant of all. For even the Son of man came not to be
ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many.
KJV
If we want our children to continue to
seek our counsel and leadership in their lives we must take heed to Jesus’
counsel. We should serve our children in
love and minister to them. The counsel
and directives we give should be motivated by love for them and a desire to
honor God. We should not make rules just
to appease ourselves and make our lives easier.
This is the type of leadership that loses followers. Seek the Lord for a heart to serve and
establish leadership in a way that causes the multitude of those you influence
to continue to learn from your example.
