Proverbs 22:19-21
That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have
made known
to thee this day, even to thee.
Have not I written to thee excellent things in
counsels and knowledge,
That I might make thee know the certainty of the words
of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto
thee?
The writer of
these proverbs is letting us know why these are written. They are written so that our trust will be in
the Lord. They are written so that we
realize how excellent God’s counsel and knowledge is. These are written so that we know the
certainty of the words of truth. How
wonderful! God wants us to know the
certainty of the words of truth! I love
that phrase – the certainty of the words of truth! Also we realize that after we realize how
trustworthy and certain these counsels are, we will be able to answer words of
truth to those who ask us for advice.
The Lord is so good. He has given
us this wisdom not only to build our lives but that others could gain wisdom
through our knowledge of these proverbs.
As you have gone through these words and as you have applied them, have
you noticed a sense of certainty about your choices? Has anyone come to you needing advice and you
found yourself armed with these words to give them? Alleluia!
God’s Word is certain and we are certainly blessed to have His knowledge
available to us through the book of Proverbs.
