Isa
41:17
When the poor and needy seek water, and there
is none, and their tongue faileth for thirst, I the Lord will hear them, I the
God of Israel will not forsake them.
The
Lord lets us know here that when someone is lacking something and they have
tried to find it and yet come up empty, the Lord hears them. He doesn’t only hear the cries of His people,
but He hears our searches, thirsts and discouragement. When He hears us He does not forsake us. The Lord is committed to His people by
covenant. For Christians, this is a new
covenant that is not made with the blood of animals but with the blood of Jesus
Christ. If the Lord did not spare His
own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not, also with Him,
freely give us all things? The Lord sees
your thirst. The Lord sees the fact that
you cannot find that which will quench your thirst and He hears you. He will not forsake you.
