10:17
And the
light of Israel shall be for a fire, and his Holy One for a flame: and it shall
burn and devour his thorns and his briers in one day;
The
Lord is called the light of Israel. The
Lord shall be a fire. The Holy one is a
flame. The Lord is able to devour thorns
and briers. The Assyrians had conquered
Israel and their presence was like thorns and briers – trapping God’s people in
subjection to them. When we find
ourselves trapped by things we must remember that the Holy one is a flame and
able to devour those very things that seem to be encroaching on us and
restricting us in moving freely as His children. Thank You Lord for being the light of Israel
and the Holy One is a flame. Lord,
devour those thorns and briers that are standing in our path that we might
accomplish all You have for us.
