Proverbs 25:24
It is
better to dwell in the corner of the housetop,
than with a brawling woman and in a wide
house.
These are
the proverbs women know well. They are
often quoted by our husbands. How do
they learn these scriptures so fast?
Maybe they have experienced it to be true. A brawling woman is difficult to live
with. We are told here that it is better
to be on the roof of a house isolated and alone than to be in a beautiful
mansion with a bitter and angry woman.
We know how this is. When we are
contentious we don’t even like to dwell with ourselves. This shows us that getting a big house
doesn’t make a happy family. If we get
into a mortgage we cannot afford we can end up on edge and be this brawling
woman in a wide house. To give our
family a beautiful home our disposition and kindness furnishes them with great
leeway to enjoy and dwell in peace and safety.
Rather than redecorating our rooms, let us redecorate our disposition.
