Proverbs - Giving Cold Water

Proverbs 25:25

As cold waters to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a far country.

The good news we have been given comes from a far country.  The good news that God wants to forgive us and has taken care of the debt is great news!  The people around us are thirsty. Their souls are thirsty. They may not look thirsty but it is their souls that thirst.  There is a dryness to their lives and a thirst that cannot be satisfied apart from a restored relationship with God through Jesus Christ.  Sometimes we are afraid to tell someone about the good news of Jesus Christ because demonic whisperings come in and suggest we will offend or cause damage.  God tells us that we are giving cold water to a thirsty soul.  The next time we are given the opportunity to tell someone that their sins can be forgiven, think about this proverb.  Consider yourself giving a cup of cold water to a dry and thirsty soul.
