Ps
17:7
Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness,
O thou that savest by thy right hand them
which put their trust in thee from
those that rise up against them.
You Do the Saving, We Do the
Trusting
We learn a few
truths in this piece of scripture. We learn
that people will rise against us. We
don’t like this, but it is true. We
learn that our response to people rising against us is to put our trust in the
Lord. We want to defend ourselves or
find sympathetic ears, but we mustn’t.
We learn that God saves by His right hand those who do place their trust
in Him at these times. We want to save
ourselves, but He is the One will do it.
It is important to realize that using our shield of faith/trust is
really the militant response to attacks/fiery darts being thrown at us. When we have the Lord between us and them, we
are shielded from injury and we yield our defense to a God who has the
resources, authority and wisdom to save us.
Our God cares when people rise up against us. He knows we don’t like it, but He asks us to
be more focused on trusting in Him than being discouraged by people. He will save us with His right hand and we
should cry out to Him asking for Him to show us His marvelous works!
