Proverbs 27:5-6
Open rebuke
is better than secret love. Faithful are the wounds of a friend; but the kisses
of an enemy are deceitful.
Hearing
from someone that loves us about an action or pattern that is not in line with
God’s plan for our lives, is a good thing.
A friend is someone who is willing to call us on things that will tear
our house down. They are not a good
friend if they observe patterns and behaviors in us that are contrary to the
Lord and yet remain silent and wait to watch the inevitable reaping we will
face. If we are building something with
faulty materials, another person should tell us before we invest all of that
time and energy into something that is bound to fall apart. Enemies love to affirm things that they know
will lead to our demise. Friends will
rise up and call us on things to help us have lives that are sturdy and
blessed. Are you that kind of
friend? Do you have that kind of
friend? Pray for both and don’t trust
the kisses of an enemy. Trust the wounds
and open rebukes of a friend.
