Proverbs - Desires and Prayer

Proverbs 13:19

The desire accomplished is sweet to the soul:
but it is abomination to fools to depart from evil.

When we have a desire we are often tempted to make it happen on our terms on our time schedule.  We must realize that desires are often placed in our hearts by the Lord with His intention of fulfilling or accomplishing them.  We sometimes confuse desire with goals.  Goals are often very defined and able to be accomplished, with His help, in a very disciplined and structured manner.  Desires are things that come up in our hearts and are to be brought before the Lord in prayer and He is to be sought concerning any direction He might have for us.  When these desires are of Him and defined by Him, they are accomplished by Him.  The result is a sweet experience as we reflect on their beginnings and their accomplishment.  We must be cautious when we have a desire, not to try to bring it about in our own strength and our own terms.  Sometimes we are tricked by our adversary to use evil means to bring about something that might, in fact, be noble.  We will be foolish women if we are hasty with our feet or words.  We must wait on the Lord concerning our desires and depart from any sort of evil strategies that might present themselves in order to see these desires fulfilled.  Then, the Lord will be glorified and we will be wise women who are not controlled by the desires our heart.
