Knowing God - The Lord is a Living God

Josh 3:10

And Joshua said, Hereby ye shall know that the living God is among you, and that he will without fail
 drive out from before you
the Canaanites, and the Hittites, and the Hivites, and the Perizzites, and the Girgashites,
 and the Amorites, and the Jebusites.
The Lord is a Living God

God is a living God.  A God who doesn't just exist – but lives!  How will we know that this living God is among us?  By the fact that He will WITHOUT FAIL drive out from among us those enemies in our lives that threaten us and possess areas of our lives that He has given to us to possess.  The children of Israel were told to go in and drive out these enemies.  This was not to be done in their own strength.  The Lord would go before them – but they needed to proceed in conquering trusting the Lord to drive them out.  What sorts of Canaanites are in your life?  What habits, attitudes, fears or sins are occupying a life that has been purchased by the blood of Christ?  Turn and face them.  Move towards them with the confidence that God is among you and, without fail, will drive these things out from before you.  He wants you to know that He is the living God that knows how to make our lives worth living.

Proverbs - Wisdom Brings a Pleasant Life

Proverbs 3:13-18

Happy  is the man that findeth wisdom,
and the man that getteth understanding.
 For the merchandise of it is better than the merchandise of silver,
and the gain thereof than fine gold.
  She is more precious than rubies:
and all the things thou canst desire are not to be compared unto her.
 Length of days is in her right hand; and in her left hand riches and honour.
 Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
  She is a tree of life to them that lay hold upon her:
and happy is every one that retaineth her

                    We really need to know that wisdom and understanding must be found and received.  We do not look within we look up.  Just like you might enjoy looking for the best deal in a department store or that thrift store find, you must look eagerly for the wise way of handling a matter and to have the understanding the Lord would want you to have.

                    Wisdom, choices made by the Lord’s standards, makes a pleasant life and peaceful rewards.  If we foolishly squander our time instead of doing those things we should do we usually end up with an unpleasant attitude and anything but a peaceful household.  When we need to wisely handle our time in order to be somewhere on time and choose to forsake such wisdom, our journey is usually quite tumultuous and unpleasant.  We need to retain wisdom and continue building our homes not upon what we want to do but upon wisdom’s counsel and leading.

Knowing God - The Lord Will Break Our Pride

Lev 26:19
 And I will break the pride of your power; and I will make your heaven as iron, and your earth as brass:
The Lord Will Break Our Pride

The Lord is personally involved in the transformation of our personalities.  We are His people and He is our Father.  If we experience discipline from our Father it means that He loves us and desires to see us become all that Christ died and rose for us to become.  If we resist the Lord, He will break the pride of our power.  Our power is unreliable and often hurts and damages ourselves and those around us.  It is His power that we need and His authority we must put ourselves safely under.  The weightiness we feel sometimes might really be the exalting of ourselves to positions the Lord never intended us to walk in.  Perhaps your heavens feel like iron and the earth feels cold as brass.  Humble yourselves under His mighty hand.  He will break the pride of your power that you might experience His perfect power and your environment becomes safe and warm.

Proverbs - Discipline

Proverbs 3:11-12

  My son, despise not the chastening of the LORD;
neither be weary of his correction:
For whom the LORD loveth he correcteth;
even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.

                    We don’t always like discipline, just like our children, but the Lord loves us enough to straighten us out and like braces hurt and produce a great smile, His correction will produce wonderful results in the transformation of our personality.

                    Here we see that discipline is associated with correction.   When we discipline our children the process should include not just punishment for what is wrong but some sort of measure to bring about the right behavior.  They need to not only see where they have blown it but the standard to which they are being encouraged to take on.  They also need instruction on how to reach that standard that is age appropriate and doable.   Take some time to ask the Lord for His heart of discipline towards the children in your care.  If you do not have children, pray for some of the mothers that you know.

Knowing God - God Wants to Show His Power

Ex 9:16
 And in very deed for this cause have I raised thee up, for to shew in thee my power; and that my name may be declared throughout all the earth.
The Lord Wants to Show His Power

The Lord was speaking through Moses to Pharaoh in this verse.  The Lord is telling Pharaoh that he has been put in authority to show the Lord’s power and that the Lord’s name will be declared throughout all the earth.  Pharaoh exalted himself and would not let God’s people go.  The Lord knew Pharaoh would do this.  This gave the Lord the wonderful opportunity to display the fact that He is King of kings.  The Lord’s Word is greater than any other word, no matter what powerful place speaks them.  When we are faced with authority resisting God’s ways in our lives, we must not be frustrated or angry.  We must realize that those situations are great showcases for the power and authority of God.  If you have authority over you that seems to really be not cooperating with the Lord’s plans, be strong in faith, giving glory to God.  God may, in fact, have allowed that person to make those unreasonable decisions to display His power and authority in your life!

Proverbs - The First Fruits

Proverbs 3:9-10

  Honour the LORD with thy substance,
and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:
  So shall thy barns be filled with plenty,
and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

                    How might we dishonor the Lord with our substance?  What is on the television we purchased?  What is in our grocery cart?  Do we spend more of our substance on clothing ourselves that we might be glorified rather than looking for ways to bring Him honor with our substance?

                    The firstfruits means just that.   The first of everything our lives yields.  Our time, our money, our energy and anything else He has so graciously allowed us to bear.  Do we give the government the firstfruits from our paycheck in taxes, then our bills, and then the leftovers for the Lord?  We must be searched and really bring by force the firstfruits to the Lord however He may direct.  There is a great promise here regarding such a priority.  Some people say they cannot give regularly to their local church because their barns are barren but perhaps that is why their barns are barren.

Proverbs - Don't Think You are Right

Proverbs 3:7-8

Be not wise in thine own eyes:
fear the LORD, and depart from evil.
It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones.

                    Again we are told not to be wise in our own eyes so we can be reasonably sure that we tend to think we are right and must humble ourselves in the presence of the One who has all wisdom.  The fear of the Lord will help keep us humble in mind.  When we know that He alone has the perfect answers we will be less likely to exalt our own understanding and seek Him all the more.  It will result in our frame being strong and unlike osteoporosis which deteriorates the very structure of our being, we will be able stand against the evil one, get up from falls without serious spiritual injury and be able to support others as well.

Knowing God - The Lord Protects From Predators

Ps 124:6
Blessed be the LORD,
who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
The Lord Protects Us from Predators

We have predators all around us.  Predators are lurking around and we need protection.  This verse tells us that the Lord, Himself, will protect us from the predators in our lives.  You might not even know what is lurking in your environment that is waiting to pounce on you.  The Lord does.  He is keeping watch over you and me.  He sees through those camouflaged places where predators dwell.  He is our protection and takes the role as the One who shields us from those who would want to devour us.  We don’t have ANY idea how many times He has delivered us from the mouth of the devourer.  Perhaps it would be good to pause even now and bless the Lord.  Thank Him for delivering you from the teeth of your adversary.

Proverbs - Trust Test

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart;
and lean not unto thine own understanding.
In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.

Trusting Test

                    Answer these questions out loud please!

                   How much of our heart should we trust in Him with?  That’s right!
                   And where exactly is this trust supposed to be deposited?
                   How many of our ways should we consult Him regarding?
                   Are we even allowed to give our own understanding a bit of credibility?

                    What a wonderful promise that He will order our steps and direct our paths. Obviously our trust, understanding and who we are consulting has everything to do with how the journey of our lives will be directed.

Is there a part of your heart trusting/depending on someone or something else?
 Is your analysis of a situation of more credibility than the promise of a God who can do all things?
Are there certain roads in your life you have taken control of and not acknowledging His leading on?

Take every thought captive to His obedience today and enjoy Jesus as the Shepherd of your path.

Knowing God - The Lord Wants a People for Himself

Deut 29:13
 That he may establish thee to day for a people unto himself, and that he may be unto thee a God, as he hath said unto thee, and as he hath sworn unto thy fathers,
 to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob.
The Lord Wants a People For Himself

The Lord is the same today, yesterday and forever.  He wants to be unto us a God and establish for Himself a people.  As He spoke to the nation of Israel, so He speaks to those who, in Christ, are now sons and daughters.  The things He does in our lives are motivated by His great love and desire to have children who know Him and love Him.  Do you know of this love?  Do you walk in His love?  Do you face the day confident that, through the finished work of Jesus Christ, you are his child and He is your God?  Are you still trying to earn His favor?  Sister, He LOVES you!  He demonstrated this through Jesus on Calvary.  Nothing else has to be done.  You are His child and He wants to be YOUR God.  Enjoy this relationship today.  This brings Him great delight!

Proverbs - Mercy and Truth

Proverbs 3:3-4

Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck;
write them upon the table of thine heart:
So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man.

                    Mercy and truth help us in our relationship with God and people.  We need to look at things as they are and choose to have mercy, or let it go, forgiving others so that things don’t get clogged in these two vital relationship areas in our lives.

                   Mercy is being able to recognize something as a legitimate short coming and choosing to let it go.  You cannot have mercy without truth.  Here we see that these two attributes allow us to have healthy relationships.  We can communicate that we have been offended or sinned against - that is the truth.  We can communicate calmly and with the intent of being committed regardless of their response - that is mercy.  These two will help us with our human relationships and pleases the Lord as well.

When God sees our lives He sees everything in truth and yet in His mercy deals with us patiently and with an acceptance regardless of where we are in the maturing process.
Let us have mercy and truth in all of our dealings and see good understanding and favour manifest themselves.

Knowing God - He is the Head of ALL Power

Col 2:10
And ye are complete in him,
which is the head of all principality and power:
He is the Head of ALL Power

Jesus is the head of all principality and power.  He is over all that comes our way in demonic or angelic influences.  We must remember this so as not to cower in fright and intimidation.  Jesus Christ is the head and NOTHING takes place without His knowledge and allowance in His disciples’ lives.  He is BIGGER than we have yet to comprehend.  If we truly apprehended this truth we would be in quite a place of rest and security.  This truth should free us from taking the victim role.  This should cause us to maintain a close intimacy with Jesus, seeking His counsel and leading in dealing with spiritual warfare and spiritual onslaught.  Lord, thank You that I am complete in You.  You are the head of ALL principality and power and I am Your child.  You want to guide me in these things that are too high for me.

Proverbs - Treasure His Word

Proverbs 3:1-2

 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments:
For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee.

                    If the Lord tells us not to forget the law then we are correct in concluding our tendency is to forget the law

                    Here we are told to have our heart keep His commandments.  This word ‘keep’ means to guard or protect.  Do you fight for your time in the Word of God at church or alone with the Lord?  Do you protect and guard that time not allowing the opposing forces to come in and steal this away?

                   Recently, I went to get my wedding ring cleaned.  The jeweler noticed that a prong had bent and the diamond was about to fall out.  What an expensive tragedy that might have been!  My diamond is of great value to me.  I took the ring off and put it in a safe place until I can get it fixed.  This is the type of guarding we should do when it comes to the jewels of His truth.  Reviewing what we’ve heard and being careful not to lose what  jewels we have been given.  Think right now.  What is one ‘jewel’ you have received from the Word of God in the last week?  Do you remember or is the ‘prong’ a bit loose?

                    His commandments will add good stuff to our lives.  How foolish we are when we neglect such wonderful benefits by forgetting His Word and treating His commandments so casually.

Knowing God - He Has the Authority We Need

Ps 118:9
It is better to trust in the LORD
than to put confidence in princes.
The Lord Has the Authority We Need

Our trust will always be placed in someone or something.  The Lord is much more powerful and influential than any sort of earthly authority.  We have a friend in high places.  He is God!  He is able to do exceedingly, abundantly, beyond all that we ask or think.  He is the King of kings and the Lord of lords.  The Lord is able to do more than we can even imagine.  Do you trust Him?   Are you looking to that boss?  Are you finding your hope in your husband?  Do you believe that doctor more than the One who made your body?  Are you trusting in that which someone in authority can do for you more than what the Lord God Almighty can do?  Truly it is BETTER to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in ANY authority.

Proverbs - Walking in a Good Way

Proverbs 2:20-22

That thou mayest walk in the way of good men,
and keep the paths of the righteous.
For the upright shall dwell in the land, and the perfect shall remain in it.
But the wicked shall be cut off from the earth,
and the transgressors shall be rooted out of it.

                    The Lord desires us to walk in a good way.  He wants us to have friends and companions that are vessels of His love and faithfulness in our lives.  He wants us to be challenged by those around us and stirred up to run the race even more steadfastly than ever before.

                    We must be searched and desire to walk in an upright manner, a manner that is built upon the revealed Word of God and without confusion and other sources that contradict those things that make a life sure-footed.

                    No one will get away with anything.  We are told in Gal 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”  We take our orders from our Creator and Maker and just as a farmer waits for the harvest, confident seed is taking root even when he doesn’t see anything above ground, we, too, continue steadfast in making choices based on the wisdom the Lord gives knowing a harvest will come as well.

Knowing God - The Lord is with Those Who Help Me

Ps 118:7
The LORD taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.
The Lord is with Those Who Help Me

When people help us the Lord is actually working with them and through them.  Whenever someone comes alongside of us in our trials and troubles we can be confident that the Lord is in this action.  Receive their help and be sensitive to the Lord in it all.  It is the Lord who loves us and moves upon others to be vessels of His love, encouragement and support.  It is much nobler than just human concern.  To the child of God, help given by men is help given by God.  Thank the people, but thank the Lord that He is moving upon those around you to help you.

Proverbs - Retain and Remember

Proverbs 2:16-19

To deliver thee from the strange woman, even from the stranger
which flattereth with her words;
 Which forsaketh the guide of her youth,
and forgetteth the covenant of her God.
For her house inclineth unto death, and her paths unto the dead.
None that go unto her return again, neither take they hold of the paths of life.

                    Wisdom and discretion are also given to deliver us from the strange woman.  This is that side of us as women that definitely still remains in the ‘old man’ being put to death daily.

                    We should never be people who use words to gain someone’s favor or get what we want.  We must be careful as women that our words are placed in a way to build up not to puff up.  Truth must be behind these statements and love must be the motivating force.

                    Have you forsaken the guide of your youth?  This would be the Holy Spirit for us as believers today?  Have you been with the Lord so long that you really think you can navigate your own life?  Don’t be a woman who forsakes or forgets.  Rather retain and remember. Stay close to your guide and ponder the covenant of your God.  Renew your commitment to Him today and look for His leading in every step.

Proverbs - Crooked Paths are Dangerous

Proverbs 2:13 – 15

           Who leave the paths of uprightness, to walk in the ways of darkness;
          Who rejoice to do evil, and delight in the frowardness of the wicked;
           Whose ways are crooked, and they froward in their paths:

                    People laugh at evil things in the name of entertainment.  These shows rejoice to do evil and people delight in the more perverse and bizarre the scenarios are.

                    The paths of uprightness are safe.  Sure they can seem a little boring at times but are we here for excitement or to experience dwelling safely?   The Lord says in Jer 32:37b, “..., and I will cause them to dwell safely: “  Do we really enjoy crooked paths?  We can’t even enjoy the journey when we have to keep looking down to be sure we are even on the path.  Wisdom will deliver us from this sort of life and we will dwell safely and enjoy the journey!

Knowing God - God Affirms Leadership

Josh 1:5
 There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
The Lord Wants to Affirm Our Leadership

The Lord didn’t just command Joshua what to do and how to do it, the Lord assured Joshua of His presence, help and commitment to Joshua and this call.  The Lord never intended us to carry out any sort of work without a complete dependence upon His presence, power and peace.  He wants to live through us.  Christ in us is the hope of glory.  We are privileged to be born at a time when the Holy Spirit does not dwell in a temple or tabernacle made with human hands but in our actual bodies.  We, like Joshua, should face our roles as moms, wives, employees, students etc, knowing that the Lord will be with us, not fail us and not let us down.  We can walk in those things that seem quite overwhelming if we remember that He is with us and for us.  If the Lord is with us, WHO can be against us?

Proverbs - Wisdom MUST Enter

Proverbs 2:10- 12

 When wisdom entereth into thine heart,
and knowledge is pleasant unto thy soul;
Discretion shall preserve thee, understanding shall keep thee:
 To deliver thee from the way of the evil man,
 from the man that speaketh froward things;

                    Wisdom must do more than be admired and espoused.  Wisdom must enter our hearts and we must delight to do the right things.  If we don’t really want to do things God’s way and talk ourselves right back to our own understanding or laziness, wisdom will not deliver us.  Just like a life preserver left on display next to the pool’s edge it won’t save one who is drowning unless it is received by the person who needs it.

                    Discretion is an attribute we don’t hear too much about these days.  We need to be able to have this.  The ability to assess things based on wisdom versus foolishness.  How we use our time, our tongue or money etc.  We need to have discretion.  It will preserve us and guard us from so much unnecessary conflict and wounding.

                    We need to be delivered from people who speak the wrong thing.  People who teach and deliver philosophies contrary to the Lord are labeled ‘evil’ in this text.  Do we see this or do we admire the actors and actresses who act out sinful scenarios and entertain us with those very things that Christ died for on Calvary?

Proverbs - An Account Filled With Wisdom

Proverbs 2:6-9

For the LORD giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
He layeth up sound wisdom for the righteous:
he is a buckler to them that walk uprightly.
He keepeth the paths of judgment, and preserveth the way of his saints.
Then shalt thou understand righteousness,
and judgment, and equity; yea, every good path.

                    The Lord has an account filled with wisdom for us and when we approach Him for wisdom we can be confident that we are going to the right source and He has plenty to give.  The Lord tells us in James 1:5, “But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all men generously and without reproach, and it will be given to him.”

                    He is guarding the paths of judgment and His standards don’t change.  He is preserving our paths and wanting to lead us in the right way.

                    When we go to the Lord for His judgment on a matter we will understand what is right and fair and what a good life really is according to the One who created life in the first place.  He knows us, loves us and has the clear cut wisest choice in every matter settled and ready to be revealed to us.

Knowing God - The Lord is Our Deliverer

                                                   Col 1:13
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
The Lord, Our Deliverer

We didn’t always realize we actually held captive by the power of darkness.  The Lord has delivered us from the power of darkness.  It was His doing and it was His work that did this for us.  The Lord is a deliverer.  We can look to Him to get us out of things that are too much for us.  He can not only deliver us out of them but then put us in the place we need to be.  He has the wisdom, power and resources to do this.  Maybe you are in a place where you feel trapped.  Look to Him – your deliverer and the One who can put you in a better place.

Proverbs - The Ifs of the Fear of the Lord

Proverbs 2:1-5

 My son, if thou wilt receive my words,
 and hide my commandments with thee;
 So that thou incline thine ear unto wisdom,
and apply thine heart to understanding;
 Yea, if thou criest after knowledge,
and liftest up thy voice for understanding;
If thou seekest her as silver, and searchest for her as for hid treasures;
Then shalt thou understand the fear of the LORD, and find the knowledge of God.

                    There are a lot of ‘ifs’ in this section.  As a matter of fact, I count 8 different exhortations to us that will result in us having the fear of the Lord and the knowledge of God. We need to receive, hide, incline, apply, cry, lift up our voice, seek and search and then we end up understanding the fear of the Lord and knowing God.

                    Our ears need to be open and our efforts towards the Lord. There is a passion and focus that the Lord wants us to have in our pursuit of Him and His ways.  This is not earning salvation but this is fervency in our pursuit of all He has for those He has saved.  God is referring to our ears, heart, emotions, voice, eyes and posture.  We must love Him with all of our heart, soul mind and strength.  He deserves nothing less and we benefit from this kind of fervent pursuit of the Lord who has pursued us.

Knowing God - The Lord Can Keep Us Alive

Psalm 33:19

To deliver their soul from death,
and to keep them alive in famine.

The Lord Can Keep Us Alive

The Lord’s eye is on us as we fear Him to deliver us from death and keep us alive in famine.  He can show us the way out and He can send what we need to sustain us in times of great need and dire circumstances.  As we hope in His mercy we will see His deliverance and recognize His provisioning.  He wants to show Himself faithful to us and we are to thoroughly anticipate His deliverance and keeping power in our lives.  Death and famine are no match for our God.

Proverbs - Knowledge AND the Fear of the Lord

Proverbs 1:29-33

For that they hated knowledge,
and did not choose the fear of the LORD:
They would none of my counsel:
they despised all my reproof.
Therefore shall they eat of the fruit of their own way,
and be filled with their own devices.
For the turning away of the simple shall slay them,
and the prosperity of fools shall destroy them.
But whoso hearkeneth unto me shall dwell safely,
and shall be quiet from fear of evil.

                    Knowledge and the fear of the Lord are tied together.  We should always be seeking those things that please the Lord and then we will understand how to live.  If we hearken to our own understanding we are in danger of making foolish choices.

                    Oftentimes we eat the fruit of our own way and blame others or even the Lord for such ‘sour grapes’.  We should be quite thankful when the foolish things we do turn out horrible.  The prosperity of fools shall destroy them.  We should thank the Lord when things turn out wrong as a result of a foolish choice.  This proves God right and turns us back to seeking Him and His ways.

Sure, the wise choice isn’t always the most exciting but the results of having our steps ordered by the Lord, creates a quiet, safe lifestyle free from the fear of evil.

Knowing God - His Eye is on Those Who Fear Him

Psalm 33:18
Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him,
 upon them that hope in his mercy;
His Eye is on Those Who Fear Him

When we are making it our aim to respond to life in a way that pleases the Lord, His eye is upon us in a unique and safeguarding way.  His mercy is something we can hope in.  He can take anything we have done or others have done and turn it around in a most surprising and powerful way.  We must be much more in awe of who God is and what He can do than the choices and events caused by people or that which befalls us in this life.  We must fear HIM!  We must be a people who live our lives in a way that we are confident that His eye is upon us as we concern ourselves with His plans in a situation and His ability to show mercy through it all.  We are commanded here to actually behold that His eye is on us if we are doing these things.  Lord, I believe that as I fear you and hope in your mercy, your eye is upon ME!  I am safe, guarded and being directed by You!

Proverbs - He Will Speak, Will You Hear?

Proverbs 1:24-28

Because I have called, and ye refused;
I have stretched out my hand, and no man regarded;
          But ye have set at nought all my counsel,
and would none of my reproof:
           I also will laugh at your calamity; I will mock when your fear cometh;
          When your fear cometh as desolation, and your destruction cometh as a whirlwind; when distress and anguish cometh upon you.
           Then shall they call upon me, but I will not answer;
 they shall seek me early, but they shall not find me:

                    Sometimes we cry out to the Lord for help in situations our own foolishness got us into and we even remember the Lord trying to give us the wise way to do things in the first place.  He loves us so much that when we do call out to Him in our affliction He hears us and loves to deliver His children.  In some cases, though, it will be hard to hear the wise way out, because of our own stubbornness and refusal to hear.  We must humble ourselves when we get into those messes and be quiet before the Lord that we might receive the wisdom we need to get through such calamity.

Knowing God - The Lord Made Our Hearts Alike

Psalm 33:15
He fashioneth their hearts alike;
 he considereth all their works.
The Lord Made Our Hearts Alike

The Lord has made all people’s hearts alike.  We all started out with the same propensity to sin and the same propensity to have the light of the glory of God shine in our hearts through the face of Jesus Christ.  The Lord knows our hearts and the hearts of those around us.  He has made us and He can heal us.  He considers our works and connects those to our hearts.  We can be in a place where our hearts are producing the actions that demonstrate His presence within us.  As the Lord searches our works, He desires to connect that back to matters of the heart.  The next time the Holy Spirit convicts you of a sinful deed or attitude, you might ask Him to show you the heart of the matter.  This way, the Lord can get to the root of the problem and transform you from the inside out.

Proverbs - Wisdom Speaks

Proverbs 1:20-23

 Wisdom crieth without; she uttereth her voice in the streets:
 She crieth in the chief place of concourse,
 in the openings of the gates:
in the city she uttereth her words, saying,
 How long, ye simple ones, will ye love simplicity?
and the scorners delight in their scorning,
and fools hate knowledge?
Turn you at my reproof:
 behold, I will pour out my spirit unto you,
I will make known my words unto you.

                    Wisdom is calling out to us throughout our day everywhere we go.  ‘Don’t buy that’, ‘Do your dishes’, ‘Sit down with your children’, ‘Make your bed’, ‘Get off of the phone’, ‘Go to the grocery store’, ‘Make those calls’, and other things that we need to hear to have our days ordered by the Lord.  If we would just turn at wisdom’s correction we would have the Lord’s spirit poured out to us and we would hear that much more readily the next time.
