Snow at Harvest

Proverbs 25:13

As the cold of snow in the time of harvest, so is a faithful messenger to them that send him: for he refresheth the soul of his masters.

When field workers are harvesting, they are laboring hard.  The sweat of their brow is more than obvious as they take their knives, bend down and cut down the stalks of grain.  They gather the stalks and join them into tall standing sheaves.  Then they come by and carry these bundles to the threshing floor and proceed with separating the wheat and chaff.  This is done with a winnowing fork and they bend over again and again throwing the stalks to the wind trusting the chaff to blow away and the good grain to settle upon the threshing floor. The laborer is hot and weary.  If a gentle snow would fall upon him, he would be refreshed and invigorated.  The Lord lets us know that when we are faithful messengers we are like this to those who send us.  If our husbands ask us to do something and we do it well and up to their expectations we refresh them.  If our children need us to get something at the store and we get the right thing in the right timing we refresh them.  If someone in authority over us asks us to pass on some information we must be careful to properly represent them.  Then we will be like snow in the time of harvest.  We will be a refreshment to those who send us.
