Proverbs - The Fear of the Lord

Proverbs 19:23

The fear of the Lord tendeth to life: and he that hath it shall abide satisfied; he shall not be visited with evil.

The fear of the Lord is to be consistently concerned with what the Lord’s evaluation of situations is.  We need to be in a place where we are always attentive to the Lord’s rightful position in our lives.  He is the One we get our total and complete authority from.  It is His value system, His priorities and His purposes we must be concerned with.  This will lead to life.  Our choices that are in line with His will brings life and the natural decay of a life lived apart from His influence will not occur.  We will abide satisfied when we walk in the fear of the Lord.  We will enjoy what we have when we are looking up.  We will not be visited with evil.  We will be so enthralled with the Lord and our relationship with Him that even if evil came knocking on our door, we won’t hear it and let it come in and visit.  We will be abiding satisfied and content because we are enjoying the fellowship we have with Him.  When we are full we don’t hunger for other things.  Oh Lord, cause us to desire to please and honor you more than any other sort of desire that we might have life, abide satisfied and not be visited with evil.
