12:10
A righteous
man regardeth the life of his beast:
but the tender mercies of the wicked are cruel.
Animals
were created by the Lord and put here intentionally. In the beginning the Lord gave Adam the
privilege of naming the animals. “And
out of the ground the LORD God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl
of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and
whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof. “ (Gen
2:19)
The Lord gave Adam and Eve ‘dominion’ or
‘rulership’ over the animals. We are
accountable for what we do with this responsibility. Do we neglect the care of our household pets? Do we loathe animals that the Lord entrusted
us with? Do we idolize our pets and have
them rule over us? A righteous man cares
for the needs of his beast and esteems this dominion as God-given and a
commission he or she must handle faithfully.
