Proverbs 13:1

 A wise son heareth his father's instruction: but a scorner heareth not rebuke.

The Lord has put our parents in our lives to instruct us.  Some of our fathers have instructed us by the good examples and excellent words of wisdom they have given us.  Others of us have experienced the instruction of a bad example and foolish counsel.  Either way we can be instructed.  

The key is to hearing the instruction the Lord would want us to have by the father we have had.  Even if our father was never in our lives we can hear the instruction in that example as well.   Your life is precious to your Lord.  He will take every different dynamic of it and use it for your good.  If you will quiet your own understanding and ask the Lord to help you hear your father’s instruction, you will be a wise woman.  Your father’s instruction is intended to cause you to be all the Lord wants you to be.
