Proverbs - Strength and Adversity

Proverbs 24:10

If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

When we face adversity we often feel faint and weak.  This is good to know.  It  means that our strength is small in regards to this particular adversity.  We don’t have to panic.  We don’t have to feel like a failure.  Strength is something we can increase in.  We have learned that a man of knowledge increases in strength.  We might need to know more about our adversity.  Is it a trial we have never faced?  Is there something in us that needs to be transformed? Is there a particular promise in the Word of God we have never utilized before?  Is our prayer life challenged to be more fervent and specific?  Just because we faint in the day of adversity and find our strength small is not a reason to be discouraged.  Rather, we can take it as a clue as to how the Lord wants our strength to increase.  He promises us strength. Ps 29:11 shows us that “The Lord will give strength unto his people; the Lord will bless his people with peace.” The Lord is very generous with this strength and we know He always gives what He says He will give.  Go to Him when you are weary and go to Him when you want to give up.  Ask and you will receive.  He will strengthen His people.
