Proverbs - Bitterness

Prov 14:10

The heart knoweth his own bitterness;
and a stranger doth not intermeddle with his joy.

What is deep within us - is deep within us.  Our hearts have feelings and experience that no one is able to connect with on a human level.  When we go through things we often realize that no matter how much someone loves us they cannot be the companion we need in our hearts.  If we are having bitterness or sorrow, we so wish someone could come in and help us carry such weight.  We can find ourselves feeling isolated from and disappointed with those who surround us.  When we have joy and excitement deep within our souls, we can find ourselves amazed that others don’t join us with the same joy and passion we ourselves are experiencing.  Ladies, our hearts know our own bitterness and a stranger does not get involved in the heart’s joy.  This is only found in someone who can come into our hearts and experience such highs and lows with us – Jesus Christ.  In Ephesians 3:17, Paul prays for the believers, “That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love,” He is with us and He is able to:

·        Have His peace rule and reign in our hearts when they are troubled.
Col 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts , to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. KJV
·        Comfort our hearts when they are hurting.
2 Thess 2:16-17 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, Comfort your hearts , and stablish you in every good word and work. KJV
·        Direct our hearts into His love when others might not be loving us.
2 Thess 3:5 And the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God, and into the patient waiting for Christ. KJV
·        Search our hearts when we are confused.
Acts 1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all men,… KJV

We must not allow ourselves to have expectations on human relationships that only the presence of the Lord Jesus can consistently meet as well as exceed.

Lord, thank You that You are that friend that sticks closer than a brother and You dwell in my heart by faith.  I need that kind of companionship.
