Now
unto him that is able to keep you from falling,…
The
Lord is able to keep us from falling/stumbling.
The word ‘keep’ here is a military term.
It means; ‘to guard, to watch’.
The Lord is watching over us and seeking to assist us in avoiding
falling into sin or being deceived into choices that will destroy us and the
relationships we are in. The Lord does
not give us commands and then sit back and watch whether we will obey. He comes
alongside us and helps us walk in obedience showing us the way of escape. So many times we try in our own strength to
overcome destructive patterns without depending upon His grace and power to
deliver us. We must remember that it is
God who is able to keep us from stumbling.
He is guarding us and protecting us.
When an opportunity comes to stumble, the Lord is there not allowing us
to be tempted above the ability He has given us. Don’t believe your adversary. Don’t do it on your own. He is able to guard us and keep us from
stumbling.
