Joel
2:13
And rend your heart, and not
your garments, and turn unto the Lord your God: for he is gracious and
merciful, slow to anger, and of great kindness, and repenteth him of the evil.
God is Slow to Anger
We
learn from this section of God’s Word that we should turn towards the Lord when
we realize we have done wrong. He lets
us know that He is gracious. He
understands. He is merciful. He wants to extend forgiveness and
redemption. He is of great kindness. He wants to deal with us in kindness not
wrath. He is slow to anger. He does not blow up suddenly. He can be turned to and He is a God we can be
broken before. He doesn’t want to deal
with us in anger, wrath or judgment. He
wants us to come as children who know we have sinned and are seeking His
forgiveness, grace and kindness in the wounded state we find ourselves in. Our God doesn’t want us to be afraid to come
to Him. He is a holy God but He is a
gracious, merciful and kind God. Turn
towards Him, do not run away.
