Proverbs 21:17
He
that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man:
he
that loveth wine and oil shall not be rich.
The
statement here goes against everything that the world tells us as women we
should love. We are told to love
pleasure. We are told to love rich food
and pleasure. The Lord is telling us
that if we are like this we will be poor and not rich. This type of love is where we pursue pleasure
as a first priority. How many times
have we thought, “What do I want to do?”, “What sounds pleasurable to me?” We
would most likely be better of saying “What would you want me to do Lord?” He has pleasurable things planned for us but
they are way better than what we might seek for in our strength and
timing. Let us love the Lord and just
enjoy pleasure.
