Proverbs - Don't Be Hasty with Consumption

Proverbs 21:20

There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up.

A wise woman knows how to ration and save.  Those Girls' Scout cookies are not consumed in the first hour they are purchased.  That extra money is not spent immediately on something that catches her eye.  She knows how to take something she values and rations it out to enjoy it much longer.  The foolish woman is impulsive and out of control.   She spends and spends and doesn't set that which is of value before the Lord seeking how He would have it used or rationed.  We should be like the wise virgins the Lord taught us about.  He said that their lamps were full and their wicks were trimmed because they did not know what hour the bridegroom was coming.  Putting money aside for future car repairs, or saving up for our children’s college education is wise.  Let us be those women who have resources set aside because we know how to wait on the Lord.
