Knowing God - God Instructs

Jer 6:8

Be thou instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from thee; lest I make thee desolate, a land not inhabited.

The Lord is telling His people to be instructed or they will end up being desolate and having the Lord stop speaking to them.  Our God is telling us the same thing.  He can teach but we must be instructed.  Being instructed involves being teachable and open to taking in all our instructor is telling us.  God doesn’t just tell us what to do, He commands us to do what He is telling us.  The Lord will remove His instruction and allow us to see what it is like if we ignore His words and teachings.  Our God wants us to be good disciples, learning what He says and having His instruction become a part of our lives.  We don’t want our lives to be desolate lands.  We want our lives built strong and full of life.  The Lord tells us today to be instructed.
