Proverbs 31:30
Favour is
deceitful, and beauty is vain:
but a woman
that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised.
“Favor” means
having people like and respect us.
Beauty is that which is admired by the eyes of others. Having the favor of people can really deceive
us and trick us into making choices that aren’t really God’s best. We like it when people like us but we are not
here to please people. We are here to
please the Lord. Beauty is nice and it
feels good to look good but beauty is empty and doesn’t bring the ongoing sense
of purpose we need to live day by day.
The woman who fears the Lord is the one who will keep on going like the energizer
bunny. When others turn away from us
or our beauty just isn’t what we would want it to be, if we fear the Lord, we
will have the consistent source of acceptance and worth we need to go on until
the Lord calls us home. When you are
doing your make up or sensing someone likes you, send a silent prayer asking
the Lord to establish you in doing thing to please Him above all other motives.
