Ps 103:13
Like as a father pitieth his children,
so the Lord pitieth them that fear him.
The
word ‘pitieth’ here means to fondle, love and be compassionate. The Lord is compassionate and fondles those
who fear Him. If a child really wants to
please their father and makes a mistake in the midst of seeking to bless him,
the father will have great compassion on that mistake. If a child was trying to make a Fathers’ Day
breakfast for his dad and broke a good plate in the process, his father would
have compassion and help the child clean up the broken pieces. Even if the child was told not to use the
plate, that Father might have to give a consequence but would still have great
compassion on the child knowing he was seeking to honor the Father. Our Father in heaven is letting us know that
if we are seeking to please Him above all others, we do not have to walk on egg
shells. We can know that He loves us
like a Daddy loves his precious child.
The Lord looks on us with great love and understanding. He created us and He loves us. We need to focus on seeking to please Him and
trust in His unfailing mercies.
