Proverbs 10:20
The tongue of the just is as choice silver:
the heart
of the wicked is little worth.
Our words have value. The value comes from the source of our words
- the heart. Here we see that if
we have a just and righteous heart our words will be like silver and will feed
people. A just heart wants to do what is
right. A just heart is not out to prove
itself right but to discover and do that which is right. A righteous heart is a heart that is in right
standing with God. A righteous heart is
covered by the blood of Christ. A
righteous heart is concerned with pleasing the Lord. When our hearts are in this position our
lips will speak words that reflect the beauty of our Lord just as choice silver
reflects the image of the one looking into it.
When our hearts are in this position we will speak words that people who
hunger for encouragement, hope and forgiveness will feed on. If our words are lacking we must start with
the cry, “Lord give me a just and righteous heart”.
