Knowing God - His Presence Is Not Always Obvious

Gen 28:16

And Jacob awaked out of his sleep, and he said, Surely the Lord is in this place; and I knew it not.

Jacob was sleeping.  The Lord appeared to him in a dream and let him know that the land upon which he slept was promised to him.  We, like Jacob, could be sleeping on things that the Lord wants to give us.  When Jacob awakened he told himself that the Lord was in this place and he didn't know it.  The Lord’s presence is not always so spectacular.   His power is not always so demanding.  Oftentimes the Lord is in something and we are practically sleeping and not recognizing He is in it.  His promises and presence are not always pushing their way into our perspective.  We, like Jacob, must awaken to His presence and the promises He has already given us.  Lord, show us the places where you are and we have yet to recognize!
