Proverbs - Boundaries

Proverbs 23:10 -11

Remove not the old landmark; and enter not into the fields of the fatherless:
For their redeemer is mighty; he shall plead their cause with thee.

A landmark is usually placed to show boundaries.  The bible tells us that boundaries fall unto us in pleasant places.  We are not to change standards based upon our culture or our desires.  We never want to remove the old landmark.  Maintain the lines that our Creator has established and uphold them especially when the enemy comes in like a flood.  We are also instructed not to enter the fields of the fatherless.  This would be a temptation in times past if the owner of the field died and the children were left unable to oversee and protect the land their father had cultivated.  In our society there are children who do not have fathers present with them.  They might only see them a few times a month or their dads may be absent for a variety of reasons.  Our God pleads their cause and is mighty.  We must be sensitive to their plight and handle them with a sensitive hand.  We must not just run into their lives and examine their fruit expecting them to take care of their lives as if their father was present.  We should encourage men to take them under their wings and come alongside and help that single mother.  The Lord cares so much for the fatherless and He desires us to be vessels of that love and concern.
