Proverbs - Hard Work

Proverbs 18:9

He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster.

Most of what makes this world run in the day to day happenings involves labor.  That’s right – work.  We, as women must be sensitive to our example to our family.  We must be hard workers.  Whether at work, home or in ministry, we cannot be slothful.  Something will end up being wasted.  Have you ever seen perfectly good food having to be thrown out because it was left out unattended and it reached an unsafe temperature for consumption?  That is so sad.  The potato salad could have been eaten for another meal or brought to a friend’s gathering.  Instead it gets tossed.  The Lord is telling us that when we do our work in a lazy way we actually are wasting something.  Sometimes we do a half-hearted job and end up doing it again.  We wasted the time we first did it in.  Other times we procrastinate and end up having to do something when we could have enjoyed some other opportunity.  We might have wasted that opportunity.  When we should do the dishes and we procrastinate we might end up having to stay up too late and we waste the sleep we need to wake up ready to live for our God.  Oh Lord, show us when we are being slothful in our work.  We don’t want to waste anything You have for us!
