Proverbs - Wickedness and Contempt

                                                                       Proverbs 18:3

When the wicked cometh, then cometh also contempt, and with ignominy reproach.

Wickedness brings confusion and causes a person’s reputation to be shot down.  Ignominy is a word that means dishonor or shame.  The Lord is telling us here that wicked choices and shameful conduct will ruin someone’s reputation in other people’s eyes.  Even what we do in secret will affect our reputation and our example.  A woman is to be honorable and esteemed for directing her life in a way that honors the Lord Jesus Christ and adorns the gospel.  This world is trying to convince women that purity and integrity are a thing of the past and to be desirable we must be ‘experienced’ in wickedness and live lives that shameful and sinful.  This is a lie of the devil!  We have the opportunity to shine like never before because darkness is encroaching so quickly and strongly.  Our lives’ choices should reflect that we believe in a holy God and His ways.  This way, our children can rise and call us blessed and our husbands can praise us in the conversations they find themselves in.
