Proverbs 22:4
By
humility and the fear of the Lord are riches, and honour, and life.
How
do we establish good financial decisions?
How do we gain respect and honor in the eyes around us? How do we have growth and new avenues of
maturity? The Lord tells us the two
ingredients we need to produce these things in our lives. He tells us we need to have humility and the
fear of the Lord.
If
we are humble, we will not make reckless decisions rooted in self confidence or
personality tendencies. We will seek
counsel from the Lord and others around us. This will help us make wise financial
decisions, fill our lives with experiences others have had and give us new
ideas we might never have thought of.
If
we have the fear of the Lord, we will use His standards and values in financial
dealings. If we fear the Lord, we will
do in secret the same things we would do in public allowing our reputation to
stand under the meanest of scrutiny. If
we have the fear of the Lord we will experience life as He has designed avoiding
the pitfalls of fleshly decisions that result in decay and corruption. Lord, we humble ourselves before You and seek
to hold Your evaluation of our finances, reputation and lives in the highest
regard.
