Proverbs - Training Children

Proverbs 22:6

Train up a child in the way he should go:
and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

As moms we are called to train up a child in the way he should go.  We are given the instruction to train them.  Training often involves repeated disciplines.  Do you ever feel like you are repeating things over and over?  This means you are doing a good job training these little ones. Your children will have these disciplines, standards and truths woven into the foundation of their beings.  The way they should go will be clearly imprinted upon their character and when they are older they will recognize this path and find out that they should never depart from it.  Sure, they will depart from this path along the way, but the way, the path, will be there and eventually they will fear ever leaving it to follow any other path.  Don’t panic, dear sister, about whether they are jumping on and off of it.  Rather, focus on training them.  You are not responsible for their choices.  You are responsible for knowing the way they SHOULD go and training them in it.  Don’t be surprised at the way they ‘naturally’ go.  You must train them in the way they SHOULD go.  Don’t grow weary.   In due season you will reap if you don’t give up.
