Proverbs - Twists and Turns

Proverbs 22:5

Thorns and snares are in the way of the froward:
he that doth keep his soul shall be far from them.

This word froward means ‘twisted’ or ‘not upright’.  If we make decisions based on a sort of twisted motivation, we are warned that there will be thorns and snares in our path.  Thorns poke us and make travel difficult and snares are traps that catch us and keep us from going on.  When we are women who are deceptive or motivated by some sort of hidden agendas, we will find our paths very annoying and at times we will find ourselves stuck.  We must keep or guard our souls so that we can be far from snares and thorns.  Our inner man must be guarded.  What are we feeding that inner man?  What are we meditating on? As we guard our souls we will find our way much smoother than when we are reckless and confused about our steps.  Let us take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, filter what comes in and guard what comes out.  This will keep these thorns and snares far from us.
